Ms. Maleche Florence

Deputy Principal – Academics

As the Deputy Principal Academics, I foresee the design and implementation of all the academic programmes in Bumbe Technical Training Institute. The implementation of all the academic programmes has to be very effective and efficient in order to achieve high level of academic performance by the students of Bumbe T.T.I.

We have six academic departments offering 37 academic programmes at Artisan, Craft and Diploma levels. Our examining bodies are: –

  1. The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC),
  2. Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB),
  3. National Industrial Training Authority(NITA) and
  4. Technical and Vocational Education Training Curriculum Development Accreditation and Certificate Council.(TVET CDACC).

We have aggressively embraced Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) courses just as our sister TVET Institutions in the entire country.

Bumbe TTI being located next to Lake Victoria in Samia Sub-County, Busia County, we are soon introducing Marine Engineering and Tourism courses. We are benchmarking with well established institutions of higher learning to see if we can increase academic programmes in our institute that will help the youth to be self-employed by engaging in Small and Medium term enterprises (SMEs) that will create employment to others.

To achieve academic excellence of Bumbe TTI, I work with highly trained and skilled trainers who are dedicated to their work with such a team of experts academic excellence is a sure bet.

My office has embraced a high level of interpersonal skills among all the stakeholders of our institute. This has created a rapport among all the interested individuals and groups dealing with the institute as far as academic programmes are concerned. This has created an enabling learning environment which to a large extent has contributed to improved academic performance of our students.

I would like to appreciate the industries that are giving attachment opportunities to our trainees and internship opportunities to our graduates. I am also grateful to the Samia community for collaborating with the institute by putting up hostels to accommodate our students and trainers. I encourage them to keep on interacting with us frequently. I would also like to thank our parents, guardians, and sponsors especially HELB, CDF, and County Assemblies for offering financial support to our students in fee payment. We look forward to further cooperation with them as we impart skills and knowledge to change the lives of our youth.
